I have just discovered a bunch of messages from people from RGB in my junk mail folder. I didn't realise this was happening because some are going into the normal mail folder. If you have tried to contact me and received no response, please try again. Your email may have been deleted by my email account.
If you leave a message on my image, I will see it. As long as the address you gave when joining RGB is still valid, I can respond to you on your contact form.
I apologise for any inconvenience caused by this.

Just for amusement I looked at the website www.barid.com from which these "lawyers" message purports to come. Strange that they write emails in English but the website is entirely in Arabic.... ;-)

Hi cool,
I use Canon glass but Nikon will have an equivalent and Tamron lenses are pretty good as a cheaper option.
The lens I use for close-ups is a 100mm f2.8 macro USM
Here's an example of what it can do:

There are shorter macro lenses but I find my 100mm lens to be very versatile because it also doubles as a full-on telephoto lens at the flick of a switch.

A very good picture of the bee. I was looking at a 40mm 2.8 but I will try to find a 100 mm first. I've never heard of Tamron lens before.

The Nikon lens you would want would be the AF-S VR Micro-Nikkor 105mm f/2.8G IF-ED
It costs a lot of money but will provide you with outstanding performance for many years.

Or look out for a secondhand lens. I'd suggest ebay but they go for silly money on there which is why I bought my macro new. I sold my analog gear separately (which was a Nikon FE2 and assorted lenses) on ebay and ended up gobsmacked at how much they went for - more than I paid for them. Like I said; silly money.

I will checkout the Nikkor lens soon. I had a couple bad experiences with second hand things so I don't buy second hand. All my Nikon lens have lasted over 2 years so far so I'm impressed with Nikon. I buy everything direct from Nihon because I don't trust online websites. Anybody know a good maker of tripods?

I bought a 60 mm micro Nikon lens to work with for now. 105 mm lens was very expensive.

Did anybody ever try a micro filter? I just got a set of them as well but I think my 60mm will produce a more clear picture. I am also looking for information about model releases. I 've create a very basic release but I'd like more input before I start printing my releases.

As for close-up filters. I suggest you experiment. You need to remember that macro lenses need very precise focus when at the optimum distance from the subject. Adding a filter or a diopter to a macro would probably require you to stop-down and therefore increase exposure time to compensate otherwise image quality can be affected. You would need to keep the camera very still so I would mount the camera on a tripod or a beanbag large enough to support the camera and lens. Use a remote shutter release and the delay function to ensure the camera remains still when taking a close-up image.

The model release can be used now but I'm not sure about property release because as long as you are on a public side walk or area, you can take the picture.I did some research on building releases. You need a building release only if you are going to take picture within a building. The building release appears to be a complicated issue because there are several different opinions on the internet depending on whose website you visit. Thanks for the information, It will save me a lot of time and help me.

Some buildings actually have restrictions. Sydney Opera House, for one. Eiffel Tower has a copyrighted light show, so only day images can be taken, etc.

The majority of western countries don't have many restrictions on photographers as long as your not bothering anyone.

An additional factor is that so many buildings incorporate logos, which are very definitely copyrighted. I've given up taking shots in some town areas because there are so many logos that it's not worth the time and trouble to edit them all out!
